This wedding was from a few years ago. However, like Tom & Jennifer’s wedding, we thought that Emma and Nic’s day was far too special to not write about.
Emma & Nicola’s day was an incredibly special one. It was an absolute joy to work with the couple and will definitely be one we remember here at Blackstock for years to come. They opted for a smaller wedding, having 55 day guests join them on the Sunday. This allowed for an extremely intimate feel and also kept things from becoming too overcrowded. This turned out to be a wonderful decision, one that both Emma & Nicola were pleased with.
Emma & Nic had arranged for a harpist to arrive and to play during their ceremony, she arrived early and prepared herself in the wing of the Tudor Barn. Emma & Nic, who arrived separately, both went through our reception.
The close friends and family of the couple had too arrived before the duo, so the Blackstock team ensured neither of them were spotted upon arrival. The bar, that was fully stocked in preparation, was a huge help in this. Whilst the guests mingled amongst themselves, the Blackstock team ensured everything behind the scenes was going to run smoothly for the ceremony.
All the guests were invited to a wing of the Tudor Barn for the ceremony. Emma & Nic both looked gorgeous in their stunning white wedding gowns. Nicola was walked down the aisle by her Father and Emma, her son. This was an incredibly special and tender moment for the four of them. The ceremony was beautiful, complemented with the sound of the harpist, who played throughout.
Our Tudor Barn wing looked fantastic! There were beautiful fairy lights wrapped around the rustic support beams of our traditional barn. These, paired with the deep blue lights, created a really romantic charm for the couple to tie the knot officially. They both had matching bouquets of pale pink and white flowers. This pink was continued in the decor through the use of wonderful ribbon on our chiavari chairs, that looked incredibly stylish.
Once the ceremony had concluded, Emma & Nic took some time away from their guests to participate in a photoshoot. During the shoot, they explored our scenic grounds and found some really amazing spots. All the pictures were fabulous and it’s clear they took full advantage of what our beautiful Sussex countryside has to offer. Many couples are sold on Blackstock when they see the potential with our grounds. We are incredibly fortunate to have such marvellous natural beauty on our doorstep.
We believe that the photoshoot is one of the most important moments of your wedding day. Finally getting a chance to slip away from the crowd and have some alone time with your new partner is a wonderfully intimate moment, plus some fabulous photos and memories are created.
Our thanks to Maria from Ebourne Images for capturing all the breathtaking shots we include in this blog.
Once the Bride and Groom finished their shoot, everyone ventured into the Granary and were seated in preparation for their candle lit meal.
Once everyone was seated for the Wedding Breakfast, Paul Mitchell announced the newly-weds into the room for the very first time! They were met by an overwhelming sea of applause and cheers!
The happy couple did an excellent job of deciding on a menu that looked and tasted great; it was thoroughly enjoyed by all. Almost clean plates all round in fact:
Goats cheese, red onion and beetroot tart, rocket salad with basil oil
Ham hock terrine, piccalilli and pea shoot salad
‘Mixed grill’ fillet of beef, crispy lamb shoulder, old English sausage, caramelized mash potato, green beans, cherry vine tomatoes and red wine jus
Baked courgette with roasted Tuscan vegetables & fregola, fresh tomato basil sauce
Table service vegetable dishes: mange tout, baby corn, cauliflower florets, heritage carrots
Lemon and lime posset, raspberry purée and vanilla shortbread biscuits
The meal was nicely followed by a set of heartfelt speeches. Words were spoken by Enid, Gordon, Emma, Dom and Luis. The speeches left most people with tears in their eyes and a sense of true love deep within. All the speeches were incredibly well written and performed with a care. Everyone who performed did fabulous.
After the last of the speeches were heard, everyone was invited back into the Tudor Barn for an evening of partying!
The Brides reluctantly cut their exquisite wedding cake and romantically followed it with their first dance as a married couple. It was a really intimate moment for the couple and a memory that will remain in the minds of everyone present. As the evening guests arrived, the party was kicked into gear! The nearest and dearest of the couple flooded the dance floor to show off their moves and really live in the moment. DJ Dave did an outstanding job keeping everyone entertained deep into the night. There was an overwhelming sense of happiness amongst the crowd, we couldn’t have asked for a more lovely group.
Emma & Nic were both an absolute joy to work with. The whole team at Blackstock send them our very best wishes for their happily ever after.
