In early August this year Blackstock Country Estate had the joy of hosting the wedding of Christie and Matt. We loved every moment of working with them both, they were such a bubbly couple. Their day was a huge success and everything ran like clockwork.
Christie & Matt’s day was most definitely a magical one. From beginning to end their day had a brilliant yet intimate feel about it. This can be quite difficult to achieve for some couples. However, Christie & Matt share such a romantic a bond that made it easy.
We loved the approach the couple took to inviting guests. They opted for a smaller ceremony and reception, inviting only 42 day guests. This mean’t that everyone present had a close and personal relationship with the couple. We think that having close intimate weddings are so special and add a real uniqueness to your day.
Christie decided she was going to take full advantage of our onsite bridal suite and makeup room to prepare herself for the day ahead.
We like to think this kickstarts the day off wonderfully, full of excitement and love. The bride, mums, bridesmaids, as well as any other chosen guests can have their hair and makeup done here if required. Being on-site also means once you are ready, you can change and relax as you don’t need to travel anywhere. Using our fabulous bridal room allows everyone to get ready together and helps to really build excitement for the day ahead.
Matt and his groomsmen arrived after getting ready at home.
Their ceremony took place in the wing of our Tudor Barn. All the guests were invited inside and took their seats. Everyone looked fantastic! Christie looked stunning in her gorgeous pure white bridal gown. Matt and his groomsmen all sported sophisticated navy suits with baby blue accents. Christie was walked down the aisle by her father. This is always an emotional and beautiful moment for everyone present.
Our Tudor Barn looked fantastic on the day. There was very much a theme of white for their ceremony. From the delicate flowers hanging from the support beams down to the pure white fabrics found on the aisle runner and our Chiavari chairs. It really created an atmosphere of purity and grace.
After the ceremony, the bar opened and a variety of delicious canapés were served. This kept the guests occupied as the couple disappeared off for a romantic photoshoot. This is one of the most valuable moments you’ll remember from your wedding day. Getting the chance to drift away from the crowd and spend some time with the person you’ve just married is precious and should be treasured. Plus the moments are captured on film which makes reminiscing with your partner so much better.
Once photographer John Scofield had finished his shoot all the guests were invited into our beautiful Granary to begin the wedding breakfast. Ben, the brother of the Groom and best man announced Mr and Mrs Rootes for the first time as they entered the room. The couple were met with a wave of applause and cheers.
The couple decided on a BBQ main course. This was extremely well received and added even more charm to their day:
Chargrilled tandoori chicken thighs, tandoori spices, cumin and yoghurt with spicy mango chutney, and cucumber raita.
Peppered minute steak, brushed with extra virgin olive oil, sea salt and cracked peppercorns
Prawn Skewers, marinated with lime, lemon, and garlic, with a mild chilli mayonnaise
They also offered a salad selector that was equally well-received:
Classic homemade coleslaw, shredded carrots, celeriac, cabbage, and a hint of onion, richly dressed with creamy mayonnaise and finished with cracked black pepper
Mediterranean pasta, tri-colour pasta spirals dressed with ripe sun-blushed tomatoes, plump Mediterranean olives, garlic, fresh basil, sweet roasted peppers, oregano and freshly shaved parmesan
Moroccan Taboule, fresh couscous mixed with chickpeas, red onion, garlic, fresh mint and coriander, roasted peppers, and cucumber, with a hint of mild chilli and lemon dressing
Roasted summer vegetables, Peppers, courgettes, aubergines, asparagus, red onions and fennel, slow roasted with honey and cumin until caramelised and golden, served with sour cream, lime and coriander dressing
Once everyone had finished their meals they were invited back into the Tudor Barn where a fully stocked bar was waiting in preparation for the celebrations.
Soon after a party of evening guests arrived to join in the celebrations. The dance floor was flooded with the couple’s nearest and dearest as they showed off their moves. The only time the dance floor was empty was when the cheese board was brought out!
Christie and Matt cut their wedding cake, which was followed romantically by their first dance as a married couple. It was an extraordinarily intimate moment for the couple and one that will remain in the memories of everyone present.
When things finally came to a close, the newlyweds made the short walk to the Goat Shed, their luxury accommodation for the night. The small cottage gave Christie and Matt some time to live in the moment and properly digest what happened during the day, as a newly married couple. All our on-site accommodation can be booked for friends and family, making the journey back to their beds as easy as possible.
