Two Barns, One Day
The Tudor Barn is a restored 500-year-old Sussex barn, full of ancient oak timbers, with a refurbished minstrel’s gallery above a large oak bar and antique cartwheel chandeliers overhead. Its wing holds the ceremony, and the barn comes back into use in the evening for the music and the dancing. In between, everyone moves across to The Granary, glazed floor to ceiling with a sandstone floor and a mezzanine above, seating up to 120 for the wedding breakfast.
Between May and September you can hold the ceremony outdoors instead, with views across the South Downs National Park beyond the field boundary. We set out white folded resin chairs, an outdoor PA and the registrars’ table, and clear it all away afterwards.
The registrar is booked separately through East Sussex Registration at Eastbourne Town Hall, on 0345 60 80 198, once your date is held with us.
Making It A Weekend
Sole use is worth most when you hold on to it for longer than an afternoon, and that is where exclusive wedding venues south of London part company with a city hotel. Getting Here From London
The estate is at Hellingly in East Sussex, around 90 minutes from London with good road and rail links, and near enough to Brighton, Eastbourne, Hastings and Tunbridge Wells for guests to come in from several directions. Far enough out to feel like a real escape, close enough that nobody treats the invitation as an expedition. There is plenty of parking on site.

Food is handled in house, which keeps one of the biggest parts of the day under the same roof as everything else. Local Sussex produce wherever we can get it, and welcome drinks and canapés served in the courtyard or on the terrace.
What It Costs
Every wedding is priced on your date, your numbers and what you want included, so we would rather price it accurately than guess in public. As a marker, our twilight weddings, with ceremonies from 4pm, start from £5,450 for 2026 and £5,950 for 2027, based on 50 guests Monday to Thursday, with a weekend supplement and additional guests charged per head. That package is held with a £1,500 deposit.

Blackstock is family-run, and you have a dedicated events co-ordinator who is with you at every stage, starting at your first viewing and staying with you on the wedding day. They build the timeline with you, keep the suppliers moving and stay out of the way of the bit you will actually remember. Is ours the only wedding on the estate that day?
Yes. We host one wedding at a time, so the barns, the courtyards and the grounds are yours alone.
How far is the estate from London?
Around 90 minutes, with good road and rail links. Brighton is about 40 minutes away and Tunbridge Wells around 35.
How many guests can we have?
The Granary seats up to 120 for the wedding breakfast. Ceremony numbers depend on the barn and layout, so tell us your numbers and we will confirm.
Can we hire the venue for more than one day?
Accommodation can be booked for the night before and the night of the wedding, and extended for a longer stay. Ask us when you enquire.
Are you licensed for ceremonies?

Is catering included?
Catering is done in house. Menus are designed with you and tasted before the day, and we will build a quote around your numbers.
