Tips on Creating a Timeless Wedding

Your wedding day is a special occasion that symbolises a continuation of you and your partner’s love story. Every couple dreams of having a wedding that is not only memorable but that could also be timeless. A timeless wedding surpasses trends and leaves an everlasting impression on the couple and their guests. In this blog, we will discuss some tips on creating a timeless wedding so your event can stand the test of time.

A classic theme

The first step in planning any good wedding is deciding upon a theme for your day. If you’re looking to create a timeless day then look at the themes that have been popular for decades. A classic theme will give you a solid foundation to build all your other wedding elements.

Wedding attire

The next thing you need to establish is the attire. This should fit your theme and reflect the timeless nature of the event. There are so many beautiful traditional white bridal gowns with neat silhouettes that provide a timeless look. For the groom, a well-fitted classic suit that never goes out of style will be perfect. If you want to try something a little more unique but still want to hold on to a timeless feel then a tailcoat can also be a fabulous option.

Decor

When it comes to decorating a timeless wedding, simplicity is key. Opt for timeless colours like ivory or soft pastels. The decor should be refined yet elegant and avoid the incorporation of flashy trends. Traditional elements such as candles, flowers and drapery is a recipe for a timeless occasion.

Our Tudor Barn has timeless style and simplicity – just stunning.

Hire a Live Band

When selecting music for your wedding, you have the opportunity to create a truly unforgettable event with the addition of live musicians. It is important to do research on the different DJs and bands available in order to ensure that they fit your desired style and song choices for the evening.

Intimate lighting

When you know what you’re doing, creating a romantic ambience with soft and warm lighting is essential. Where appropriate you should avoid the use of large overhead lights that illuminate the whole space evenly and focus on the ambient lighting options. Dim bulbs or candles add a touch of intimacy to your ceremony as well as reception.

Here at Blackstock, we employ the use of twinkling fairy lights and chandeliers in both our Granary and Tudor Barns to create a timeless and inviting atmosphere.

Floral arrangements

Traditional flowers are a must for the bride’s bouquet and flower arrangements. These flowers have stood the test of time and are known for their timeless beauty. Refer back to your theme and opt for simple yet elegant arrangements that complement the rest of your decor. If you have any questions about the specific types of flowers you should use then we highly recommend you discuss your options with your florist. These are some of our favourites:

Roses are and forever will be a symbol of love and beauty. Coming in various colours you can tailor them to better fit your theme. Softer shades of cream or blush are always a beautiful choice for weddings.

Peonies feature lush blooms and have been long associated with weddings. Similar to roses they come in a range of colours, including delicate pinks, whites, and bold reds. Their abundant petals and enchanting fragrance make them a favourite amongst brides.

Known for its graceful trumpet-shaped blooms, the calla lily is an incredibly elegant flower. They make for a simple yet sophisticated choice, so perfect for weddings. They come in the more traditional white but also other shades such as yellow, pink, and purple.

There are so many flower choices to be made – and don’t just think about the star of the show! Your florist will also chat to you about the coodinating blossoms and greenery that fully complete your displays as well as bouquet.

Venue selection

The venue is arguably one of the most important decisions you can make at your wedding, besides the person you are standing beside at the altar. The venue sets the tone for the entire wedding. Choosing a venue with timeless architectural elements such as historic barns or charming outdoor spaces is a fantastic option. The venue will be the backdrop for your special day. Make sure you get this one right.

To help you out with this decision we have written a blog covering all of the questions you should ask when visiting a venue.
