Elizabeth and Alfie’s Wedding at Blackstock Country Estate

Elizabeth and Alfie’s wedding celebration unfolded across the beautiful country surroundings of Blackstock Country Estate at the beginning of August. With 82 day guests joining them for the full celebrations and additional evening guests, their exclusive use of both the Tudor Barn and The Granary venues created the perfect setting for a day filled with personal touches, garden games, and heartfelt moments. From an offsite church ceremony to dancing until midnight, every detail came together seamlessly in the heart of the Sussex countryside.

The Ceremony and Arrival

The day began with an intimate ceremony at All Saints Church on Grange Road in Eastbourne, where family and close friends gathered to witness Elizabeth and Alfie exchange vows. Following the church service, guests made their way to Blackstock Country Estate for the drinks reception, which commenced at 2pm in the welcoming atmosphere of the Tudor Barn. The bar opened immediately, with Elizabeth’s father thoughtfully setting up a tab to treat family and close friends throughout the wedding celebration. Background music provided the perfect soundtrack as guests mingled, with a special polypin of Harveys available as agreed during the couple’s earlier planning visit.

Drinks Reception and Personal Touches

Garden games, carefully selected and provided by Alfie himself, were strategically placed around the venue. Some positioned in the courtyard for later evening entertainment, while others remained ready for collection after breakfast the following morning. At 2:15pm, canapes were served to guests, with the kitchen team thoughtfully setting aside portions for the bride and groom to enjoy before or after their photo session. The Blackstock buggy stood ready for photographs around the grounds, weather permitting, offering the perfect opportunity to capture memories across the estate’s picturesque country setting.

Wedding Breakfast and Speeches

As 4pm approached, guests took their seats in The Granary for the wedding breakfast. Elizabeth’s father had the honour of announcing the bride and groom’s entrance, adding a personal family touch to the proceedings. The wedding breakfast commenced at 4:15pm, accompanied by a carefully selected playlist and the continued service from the open bar. An ornate easel, positioned perfectly within the room, provided elegant focal point for the celebrations.

The formal proceedings continued with three heartfelt speeches at 6:15pm, with microphone facilities ensuring every word could be heard clearly by all guests. As the meal concluded, tea and coffee were served in the charming Tudor Courtyard, allowing guests to enjoy the outdoor country setting while celebrating the newlyweds. The careful attention to dietary requirements meant that all guests, including those with nut allergies, vegetarian preferences, coeliac needs, and dairy intolerances, were perfectly catered for throughout the wedding feast.

Evening Celebrations and Dancing

Evening celebrations began at 7pm as additional guests arrived at the Tudor Barn, where DJ Dave was ready to provide entertainment for the night ahead. The atmosphere transformed as the second polypin of Harveys became available, ensuring the celebrations could continue in style. At 7:15pm, Elizabeth and Alfie cut their wedding cake, with a special request for the small curtain in the dance area to be removed, showcasing the beautiful beams and creating the perfect backdrop for this traditional moment.

The dance floor came alive at 7:30pm with the couple’s first dance, followed immediately by an emotional father daughter dance, a touching moment that highlighted the family connections at the heart of their country wedding celebration. The evening buffet, featuring a traditional hog roast served in buns with stuffing, apple sauce and crisp crackling, was served at 8:30pm and remained available for a full two hours, allowing guests to enjoy the feast at their own pace.

The Perfect End to the Day

For those staying overnight, the accommodation arrangements reflected the intimate nature of the celebration. Elizabeth and Alfie retreated to the Tudor Cottage, whilst Elizabeth’s parents, enjoyed the comfort of the Goat Shed. Both properties provided the perfect country retreat after a day of celebrations, with breakfast included for the following morning.

The wedding festivities continued with energy and joy until the midnight finish, made possible by the licence extension that had been arranged and paid for in advance. The car park was secured and the bar service concluded precisely at midnight, ensuring a safe and organised conclusion to the evening while allowing maximum celebration time for the happy couple and their guests.

A Perfect Country Wedding

Elizabeth and Alfie’s wedding at Blackstock Country Estate demonstrated how personal touches, family involvement, and the venue’s flexibility can create unforgettable memories. From Alfie’s carefully chosen garden games to the father’s generous bar tab, every element reflected the couple’s personality and their desire to share their special day with those closest to them. The exclusive use of both venue areas allowed the celebrations to flow naturally from the afternoon drinks reception through to midnight dancing, all within the beautiful country setting that Blackstock Country Estate provides.
