Sophie and Alex decided to hold their special day in November at Blackstock Country Estate in East Sussex. Our grounds provided a picturesque backdrop to their day. The rolling hills and lush greenery, only added to the beauty of their idyllic day. Here is how things went for the happy couple.
Sophie and her bridal party were excited to start the day so chose to stay the night before. They then took full advantage of the bridal suite and makeup room which was full of laughter, smiles and a drop or two of something sparkly!
This fabulous space offers convenience like no other as there’s no travelling from location to location on your big day. The icing on the cake was the selection of perfectly cooked bacon rolls and pastries served alongside a delicious charcuterie plate.
Having this room before the wedding always adds a large spoonful of excitement to the day and creates an unmatched level of energy among the bridal party.
Every detail was accounted for during the couple’s ceremony, it was a beautiful sight to behold. There was a significant theme of blue and purple that ran through the day. From Sophie’s fabulous hair to the stunning bridal gown and ambient lighting in the barn, everything had been well thought out. Clearly, the couple knew what kind of atmosphere they were looking to achieve and they accomplished it brilliantly!
Alex most definitely looked the part in his suit as he stood at the end of the aisle waiting for his bride-to-be to appear. When Sophie did, Alex couldn’t keep his eyes off her. She truly stole the show. The couple’s heartfelt vows exchanged during the emotional ceremony brought tears to the eyes of their friends and family.
After the ceremony, the newlyweds crept away from the crowds to enjoy a private photoshoot with photographer Samantha Pells. With their guests entertained with canapés and drinks prepared by the in-house catering team, Samantha really captured some magical shots of the couple.
We think this is such an important moment and we emphasise this to all our couples. Having the opportunity to spend some quality time alone, just for a few minutes, with your newly married partner is so amazing. Treasure this time, as the rest of your day may feel like a blur with everything that’s going on.

After the photoshoot, the couple returned to eat food with their guests, which had been prepared by our catering team. Mr & Mrs Turner were announced and the they were met with a wave of applause from their guests. Once fed, the speeches commenced. Some beautiful words were shared by the father of the bride, Alex and this best man. This set the tone perfectly for the meal ahead.
The Blackstock Catering Team served a delicious BBQ buffet that went down as an absolute treat with everyone. It is safe to say the couple knew exactly who they were providing for! Here is what was served:
Chicken caesar salad with parmesan shavings and croutons
Salad caprese of buffalo mozzarella, vine tomatoes and basil
Local beefburgers 6 oz
Olde English sausages
Slow-cooked pork belly
Corn on the cob
Floured baps
Selection of sauces
Thyme & garlic roasted new potatoes
Lemon tart, raspberries
As the sun began to set, the evening reception began. The couple cut their “too-good-to-eat” wedding cake and romantically followed this with their first dance as a married couple. The DJ had a catalogue of songs that were perfect to keep the celebrations going deep into the night. To keep their guests happy an evening buffet consisting of a selection of curry and naans was served. This was very well received by all and helped keep the party going. It was a magical evening that carried on deep into the night, from the looks of things everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.
After the DJ played the last song and concluded the night the couple made the short walk to their onsite accommodation for the night. This rounds off the perfect day and once again avoids any unnecessary travel for you and your guests.

From the moment I woke up in the cottage with my family & bridemaids, to the getting ready room & then the ceremony, it was all so perfect.

And the food… wow it was out of this world, melt in your mouth food. Making me fancy it now just thinking about it haha…
The after party was amazing, we had Alexander James as our magician he was absolutely incredible, Flutterby Events did all our beautiful decorations & she made the long beautiful butterfly flower veil I was wearing.
The best of the best Samatha Pells photography & Warren Prodrone videography were there capturing every single detail & special moment to create the most incredible album & video we will cherish for life.
I honestly can’t recommend Blackstock enough, the wedding suite was so perfect. I wish we could relive it all over again… I have just had my wedding dress framed so I think of that special day 11.11 every single day when I look at my beautiful dress, every time I walk down the stairs… thank you Blackstock & all the staff for being so amazing.
