The Start Of A Beautiful Day

The morning began serenely as Michelle arrived at 9am to Blackstock Estate’s private Bridal Suite, allowing her and her bridal party a calm, joyful space to prepare for the day ahead. With a continental breakfast laid out, the laughter of close friends and the expert hands of Nikki’s Hair Boutique and Harleigh Slaughter setting makeup, the excitement of the day was palpable but never rushed. Meanwhile, Glyn prepared at home before making his way to the estate around midday, greeted by the gentle warmth of spring sunshine and the beautiful surroundings that make a romantic spring wedding at Blackstock Country Estate so special.

An Outdoor Ceremony In The Sun

At 1:30pm, guests gathered in the stunning Blackstock Estate gardens for an intimate outdoor ceremony that truly embodied the essence of a romantic spring wedding. As the couple exchanged their vows, live music from Tom Butterworth filled the air, creating an atmosphere that was both moving and deeply personal. The ceremony layout, with four chairs either side of the aisle over nine rows, offered a sense of closeness for the guests in attendance, ensuring that every guest could witness the couple’s heartfelt promises against the beautiful Sussex countryside.

Drinks, Canapés, and Countryside Views

Following the ceremony, the celebrations continued with a drinks reception, where guests enjoyed Prosecco, sparkling elderflower, and fresh orange juice for the children, toasting the newlyweds in the soft afternoon light. Canapés including mini fish and chips in newspaper cones, Yorkshire puddings with rare roast beef, and spiced onion bhajis were served, allowing guests to savour a taste of Blackstock Estate’s renowned catering.

The venue’s expansive grounds and photogenic countryside settings provided perfect opportunities for John Schofield to capture natural, joy-filled portraits of the couple and their guests. The Blackstock buggy was also available to whisk Michelle and Glyn away for their private couple shots, adding a playful and relaxed element to the day.

Wedding Breakfast in the Granary

Guests were welcomed into the Granary Barn for the wedding breakfast, where the space had been beautifully prepared to reflect the couple’s vision of a warm, countryside wedding. Guests enjoyed a carefully curated three-course meal, beginning with chorizo scotch eggs paired with crispy pancetta and a vibrant heritage tomato salsa.

The main course of rosemary and lemon chargrilled chicken, served with Mediterranean vegetables and a vine tomato and red pepper sauce, delighted guests with its comforting flavours.

Dessert featured warm sticky toffee pudding, a true family favourite, smothered in rich caramel sauce with a scoop of vanilla ice cream to finish.

Half a bottle of wine per guest ensured toasts were plentiful, and heartfelt speeches added moments of laughter and tears, reflecting the deep connections celebrated throughout this romantic spring wedding at Blackstock Country Estate.

Dancing, Laughter and Celebration

As the day transitioned into evening, additional guests joined the celebration in the Tudor Barn, ready for a night of music and dancing. The Sussex DJ Company provided a lively soundtrack while a photobooth on the mezzanine offered fun and memorable snapshots for guests to take home. To keep the entertainment varied, guests were treated to the talents of magician Alexander James and caricaturist David Groves, adding an extra touch of delight for all ages.

At 7:30pm, Michelle and Glyn cut their wedding cake, baked by Cakes by Ashleigh, before moving into their first dance, a magical and emotional highlight under the warm lighting of the barn. An evening hog roast ensured everyone was well-fed, providing hearty plates of pulled pork with stuffing, apple sauce, and crisp crackling – the perfect addition to an evening of celebration.

A Seamless Stay to Complete the Celebration

One of the many benefits of a romantic spring wedding at Blackstock Country Estate is the seamless on-site accommodation for the couple and their guests. Michelle and Glyn spent their wedding night in the charming Goat Shed, while family and friends enjoyed the comfort of the Flint Cottage, the Tudor Cottage, and the Farmhouse, all just steps from the celebration. Breakfast the following morning allowed guests to gather one last time, sharing stories from the day before and easing into their departure from the estate in a relaxed, connected way that reflects Blackstock Estate’s warm approach to weddings.
