Remy and Freddie’s Outdoor Summer Wedding in Sussex

Remy and Freddie celebrated their outdoor summer wedding in Sussex on a radiant July day at Blackstock Country Estate. With expansive countryside views, rustic barns, and a lovingly organised day full of surprises, their wedding was a seamless blend of elegance, personality, and summer charm.

From the moment the morning sun bathed the Tudor Cottage in golden light to the very last dance in the Tudor Barn, every part of their wedding day reflected their story, their love, and their joy in sharing it with those closest to them.

A Peaceful Morning and a Beautiful Beginning

The celebrations began early, as Remy, her mum Gail, and her bridesmaids arrived the night before and stayed in the charming Tudor Cottage on-site. The following morning, Remy prepared for her big day in the dedicated Bridal Suite, transformed into a calm, light-filled setting with the help of makeup artist Charlotte Wadley.

With a homemade breakfast, a hand-picked Spotify playlist, and the Sussex countryside just beyond the window, the morning was full of anticipation and heartfelt moments. Meanwhile, Freddie arrived around midday to get ready in time for the arrival of their guests.

At 1:30 PM, their 70 day guests began arriving. The bar opened for pre-ceremony refreshments while soft background music, that was chosen by Remy, set the tone.

At 2 PM sharp, the couple exchanged vows in the stunning outdoor ceremony space. With chairs arranged under blue skies, and “I Get to Love You” playing as Remy walked down the aisle, it was a moment of pure emotion. The ceremony concluded with cheers and smiles as Michael Bublé’s “Everything” serenaded the newlyweds walking back down the aisle, an unforgettable highlight of this outdoor summer wedding in Sussex.

Countryside Canapés and Picture-Perfect Moments

Immediately following the ceremony, guests enjoyed a refreshing drinks reception in the gardens. Pimms, Prosecco, and elderflower fizz were served alongside a generous selection of canapés, baby Cumberland sausages, chicken satay skewers, and toasted quesadillas, all served under the soft warmth of the July sun.

The Play Barn opened for the younger guests, offering entertainment while adults mingled with drinks in hand. Remy and Freddie were whisked away in the Blackstock buggy for a private photo session with the talented Luke Woodford Photography, who captured their relaxed and radiant chemistry across the estate’s rolling grounds and timber-framed barns.

With the backdrop of golden fields and Sussex woodlands, their photos highlighted why Blackstock Country Estate is one of the most photogenic venues for an outdoor summer wedding in Sussex.

A Wedding Feast Full of Flair and Surprises

Guests were invited into the Granary Barn at 3:45 PM, where high trestle tables and round tables had been styled and adorned with florals. As guests took their seats, best man Harry announced the new Mr & Mrs Black.

Dinner began with a creative starter, chorizo Scotch eggs with pancetta and heritage tomato salsa. Followed by the main event, Featherblade of beef in a rich red wine jus, served with confit garlic and mustard mash. Remy had thoughtfully arranged for alcohol-free jus to be served to two non-drinking guests, reflecting the couple’s care for their friends and family.

As guests enjoyed their passionfruit posset desserts, the atmosphere shifted delightfully when two singing waiters, secretly booked by Gail, burst into song. Julien and Renne from Singers Secreto delivered a surprise performance that electrified the room. Remy and Freddie were astonished, laughing and cheering with their guests. It was a theatrical twist that added yet another unique memory to this outdoor summer wedding in Sussex.

From Sunset to Sparkle, An Evening to Remember

At 6:45 PM, 50 more evening guests arrived at the Tudor Barn, greeted by music from Limelight Events’ DJ, who had begun setting up earlier in the afternoon. The evening transitioned beautifully from speeches and cake-cutting to dancing and mingling, with the couple sharing their first dance surrounded by candlelight and smiling faces.

At 8 PM, a hearty hog roast was served, complete with stuffing, apple sauce, and crispy crackling. As the sun dipped below the horizon, the atmosphere became one of celebration and deep contentment. A photobooth on the mezzanine added extra fun, capturing candid moments throughout the night.

By 11:30 PM, the final guests made their way home with full hearts, sore feet, and stories to last a lifetime.
