One of the biggest things we have to offer here at Blackstock Country Estate is the beauty of our wonderful grounds. Located in the heart of the Sussex countryside, we have an abundance of tranquil locations all located a short walk from our main site. The views are exceptional and we’re incredibly lucky to have them all on our doorstep. Being a countryside venue we love it when our couples want to bring some of the stunning outdoors in, let’s discuss how to incorporate nature into your wedding.
The couples that marry with us seem to fall in love with the location almost instantaneously. Many are overjoyed by the thought of using our natural landscapes and rolling hills as a backdrop for their wedding. We like to think that a captivating outdoor setting adds a layer of romance to any wedding. If you have aspirations of incorporating nature into your wedding a venue in a more rural area is always a great start. Thankfully, there is no place that does it quite like Blackstock Country Estate.
One of the best ways to make the most of a wedding venue in nature is by incorporating local flowers and foliage into your decor. East Sussex is known for its beautiful gardens and countryside, so consider using local flowers and plants in your centrepieces and bouquets. You could also incorporate elements of the local landscape into your decor. A great example of this would be pinecones. We recommend you discuss what’s viable with your florist as the availability of certain flowers will change with the season.
Granted, this time of year celebrating outside may be a challenge. However, in the warmer months, some venues may allow you to hold your reception outdoors. Many barn wedding venues in East Sussex have beautiful outdoor spaces that are perfect for a reception. Here at Blackstock Estate, we have two beautiful barns and a gorgeous courtyard area. Here we could arrange for seating for a more casual post-ceremony reception with canapes and drinks served before moving into the larger of our barns, the Granary, for the wedding breakfast. Our Granary Barn has a beautifully rustic open space with, more importantly, a fully stocked bar.
If you’re having a wedding in nature, taking advantage of the great outdoors for your wedding photos is a must. East Sussex is well-known for its stunning countryside, so why not use it as the perfect backdrop for your wedding photos? You could have your photographer capture beautiful shots of you and your partner against the backdrop of some luscious rolling hills or the stunning lake areas, all on-site and only a short golf buggy drive away from the main site.
Incorporating some local products into your wedding menu is a great touch that some people may not even notice. Despite this, it adds massively to the day and is excellent for the environment and the local farmers in East Sussex. We have a talented in-house catering team that prides itself on its abundant use of local produce for our wedding menus. Our in-house caterers provide exceptional quality, creativity and high standards of service. East Sussex is home to many fantastic local producers, so consider making the most of what’s available in your wedding menu.
