Sophie and Charlie’s spring country wedding at Blackstock Country Estate was the perfect blend of rustic charm, thoughtful details, and relaxed elegance. Held on a sunny April Thursday, their day was a joyful celebration of love surrounded by Sussex’s rolling countryside, close friends, and family. With exclusive use of our barns and onsite accommodation, their wedding felt personal, warm, and completely unforgettable.
Their wedding took place on 10th April 2025, with 63 adults and 6 children attending the day celebrations, and an additional 37 guests joining for the evening. April is a stunning time of year at Blackstock Country Estate, the landscape comes alive with spring colour, and the bright skies and longer daylight hours set the scene for a true spring country wedding. The couple made the most of everything the estate has to offer, from the beautifully restored Tudor Barn and The Granary to the expansive outdoor views, onsite accommodation and even the bridal suite.

Sophie and Charlie held their ceremony inside the Tudor Barn, surrounded by rustic wooden beams, gentle natural light, and views across the estate’s blooming landscape. With spring sunshine streaming through the barn windows and fresh flowers dotted throughout the room, the setting struck a beautiful balance between simplicity and warmth.
Guests took their seats as soft instrumental music played in the background, setting a calm and romantic atmosphere. Sophie made her entrance to smiles and a few happy tears, walking down the aisle to join Charlie at the front of the barn, framed by a backdrop of countryside just beyond the open barn doors.
The ceremony was heartfelt and sincere, full of personal touches. Although not all details were noted on the event documents, it’s easy to imagine their vows were filled with laughter and genuine emotion, a reflection of the warm, welcoming energy that carried through the entire day. After the ceremony, the couple was showered with confetti in the courtyard before sharing their first drinks and canapés with guests in the spring sunshine.
After the ceremony, guests were treated to a selection of canapés, including mini fish and chips in newspaper cones, roast beef Yorkshire puddings, and goat’s cheese bruschetta, a relaxed and flavourful start to the celebrations. The wedding breakfast featured melted baked Camembert to start, followed by slow-cooked featherblade of beef with truffle mash, a hearty and elegant choice for a spring country wedding. Vegetarian and vegan guests enjoyed a roasted butternut lattice, and dessert was a refreshing passionfruit posset with berries and shortbread.
Sophie and Charlie ensured dietary needs were thoughtfully catered for, with alternatives available for vegan, vegetarian, and allergy-sensitive guests.
As the afternoon faded into evening, the atmosphere turned festive. Music, conversation, and laughter filled the barns as evening guests arrived. At 8:00 PM, a traditional hog roast was served, a highlight of the day. It came in soft buns with stuffing, apple sauce, and crunchy crackling, and was a huge hit with guests of all ages. A separate vegetarian and vegan option was provided, showing once again how Sophie and Charlie put care into every detail.
The hog roast not only filled the room with mouth-watering aromas, but also created a casual and sociable way for guests to refuel and gather before dancing into the night.
Sophie and Charlie made the most of Blackstock Country Estate’s multiple onsite bedrooms, booking rooms in the main house, the Flint Barn, and Tudor Cottage. Having their loved ones close by added ease and comfort to the entire day. No need to arrange travel or stress about logistics, everything they needed was right here, allowing the couple to focus on enjoying their day to the fullest.
The photogenic setting, from wildflower-lined pathways to panoramic views across the South Downs, provided a natural backdrop for photographs throughout the day. Their chosen photographer, Just About Weddings, captured moments full of joy and love, and light-filled images that showed the beauty of the Sussex countryside.
