Achieving the Perfect Winter Wedding

We know wedding popularity usually occurs from Spring until October but, the frosty months offer so much potential for a magical wedding, and we feel maybe everyone is sleeping of a festive ceremony. Here are some of our best tips for achieving the perfect winter wedding.

Be aware of the winter weather!

Now we know that the thought of a frosty, snowy white wedding is the dream but we have to bear in mind that sometimes England can be unpredictable with the winter weather. The best way to have an amazing winter wedding is to be prepared for anything. If your wedding day is looking like snow then you know a magical photoshoot is on the way. If rain or wind are set to happen, try to embrace this, but make arrangements to ensure no one gets wet (unless you choose to run out into the rain!)

We have, however, had some absolutely amazing photos taken in the rain at Blackstock Estate!

Cater with winter warmers

There is nothing better than warming up with mulled wine and delicious winter warmer foods for yourself and your guests. The perks of a cosy winter wedding is all the festive comfort food you can enjoy! Our event Co-ordinators and in-house caterers will help you to put together a wonderful wedding menu and will take pride in helping you achieve a fitting menu you for your wedding breakfast.

Remember the sunset!

Unfortunately, winter months mean slightly less light over the whole day. If you time your day right you may get that incredible winter midday sun and then a beautiful frosty orange sunset, both perfect moments for wedding pictures! Most photographers will help you when structuring the best moment for the photos. Discussing the weather and the lighting is always wise, especially in the winter months!

Dressing for the weather

There are some incredible winter wedding dresses out there, from long sleeves to a fur jacket or shawl. You can even opt for dark winter colours and switch out the traditional white for a beautiful burgundy. Not only is it important to think about yourself and keep warm but it is also a great idea to add a dress code to your invitations. Including if you think your guests should bring things to keep warm. You may have a section in the evening when everyone needs to be outside for sparklers or photos, that’s when you would want to be wrapped up warm.

Don’t forget

And don’t forget we have our Bridal Suite to get ready in, so the bride (if you choose to hire it) as well as your close family and friends, can all prepare and get ready within this beautiful room. Safe in the knowledge that you won’t have to go outside before the ceremony. Our Farmhouse rooms also means the groom and his groomsmen can do the same!

Lean into the theme

If you have chosen to have a winter wedding then you probably love all things wintery. This is where you can play into the theme of your wedding. Make it magical and cosy and completely on theme. Offer things like blankets and hot drinks, Christmas lights, sparklers, and a hot chocolate stand; all these classic winter treats can be incorporated into your wedding to make it really fun and festive for everyone.

Send out your save the dates wayyy in advance!

When hosting a wedding in the winter months, especially in December, people tend to have lots of plans. So make sure you send out your invites as early as possible to make sure everyone saves the date!
