Tazmin and Alan’s Late Summer Wedding

Tazmin and Alan were married at Blackstock Country Estate in East Sussex on Saturday 29 August 2026, surrounded by 101 guests, with another 30 joining them for the evening. Their twilight wedding began with a 4pm ceremony in the Tudor Barn. A recorded message from their son Harry and live violin music made the ceremony especially personal.

Guests then enjoyed drinks, canapés, live singing and crazy golf. When heavy rain changed the plans, The Granary was opened at short notice for their burger buffet. The celebrations later returned to the Tudor Barn for the cake cutting, first dance and music until midnight.

Getting ready at Blackstock

Tazmin arrived at 11am and began getting ready in our make-up room, with Chelsey doing her make-up and one of her bridesmaids taking care of her hair. She had also brought individual bags of confetti for her guests and placed one on each chair in the Tudor Barn.

Alan arrived at 1pm and got ready in Tudor Cottage. He brought crazy golf from Pop Up Golf Sussex and set it up in the lower part of the Tudor Courtyard, ready for everyone to enjoy later.

The Tudor Barn for their ceremony

Joanna at Inspiration Decor decorated the Tudor Barn with white wisteria, ivy and fairy lights along the beams above the ceremony area. At the front was a gold hoop arch covered in greenery and white and cream flowers, with a Better Together neon sign in the centre. Floor lanterns and six floral arrangements lined the aisle.

Fairy lights were also hung above the dance floor, ready for the evening celebrations.

The ceremony

Their ceremony began at 4pm, with Sarah playing the violin as guests took their seats and throughout the ceremony.

Before Tazmin entered, a recorded message from their son Harry was played for Alan. When it finished, Sarah began playing and Esme made her way up the aisle with her bunny for her dad. Tazmin followed behind.

Once they were married, everyone gathered for confetti using the individual bags Tazmin had placed on the chairs that morning.

Drinks, canapés and entertainment

The drinks reception began at 4.30pm, with prosecco, bottled beer and sparkling elderflower served while Atlanta Lumsden performed two live sets.

Canapés from our in-house team at Circa included crostini with bocconcini and confit tomato, free-range pork chipolatas with American maple mustard, and Yorkshire puddings with rare beef and horseradish crème fraîche. Separate coeliac, egg-free and vegetarian alternatives were also served.

Their dog joined them briefly for a few photographs with Nicola Kirk, who photographed their day. Later in the afternoon, magician Alexander James entertained the guests.

The burger buffet in The Granary

Their burger buffet had originally been planned for the Tudor Wing and courtyard at 6pm, but the weather had other ideas. With the rain coming down heavily, we opened The Granary at short notice and set ten round tables so everyone could eat together indoors.

Circa served burgers with Swiss cheese in sesame brioche buns, accompanied by salad and wedges. Vegetarian burgers were also available.

Evening guests, cake and dancing

At 7.30pm, 30 more guests joined the celebrations in the Tudor Barn. Chris Hewitt provided the music for the evening, with his photo booth set up on the mezzanine.

Tazmin and Alan’s two-tier cake was made by The Cake Moment and displayed on their own cake stand. They cut it shortly after their evening guests arrived before sharing their first dance. The cake was served alongside doughnuts and brownies, also provided by The Cake Moment.

At 9pm, Circa served bacon rolls, with roasted aubergine and halloumi buns with chilli ketchup as the vegetarian option. The music and bar continued until midnight.

Tazmin and Alan spent the night in Tudor Cottage, with several of their guests staying in our on-site accommodation.
