LGBTQ+ Wedding Venue in East Sussex

Blackstock Country Estate is an LGBTQ+ wedding venue in East Sussex, sitting within 70 acres of farmland and gardens beneath the South Downs. Same-sex couples have always been welcome here, and over the years we have hosted same-sex weddings, civil partnership ceremonies and the conversion of existing partnerships. This page takes you through the local setting, your ceremony options, the way we look after your guests with food and rooms, and the team who help you plan it all.

A Local Venue In The East Sussex Countryside

There is something easy about marrying close to home, which is part of why couples choose an LGBTQ+ wedding venue in East Sussex rather than travelling out of the county. For people based nearby, the estate is a short journey rather than a weekend expedition, so viewings, tastings and planning meetings slot around everyday life. The land rolls out across 70 acres beneath the South Downs, with two lakes, a scented wedding garden and a set of courtyards that come into their own for photographs. Guests who already know this corner of the county tend to arrive relaxed, and anyone coming further afield reaches us on good road and rail links, roughly 40 minutes from Brighton and 35 from Tunbridge Wells.

Your Ceremony, Your Way

You can hold the legal ceremony and the celebration in the same place. Our two rustic barns, the Tudor Barn and The Granary, are licensed for ceremonies of up to 150 guests, so there is no second venue to book and no convoy between locations on the day. Whether you are marrying, holding a civil partnership ceremony or converting a partnership you already share, the barns give you a characterful backdrop you can dress to suit the two of you. Some couples keep things small and intimate, others fill the room with everyone they love, and both feel right under the same roof.

Looking After Your Guests, Inside And Out

Good food and somewhere comfortable to stay go a long way towards a relaxed day. Our caterers cook everything on site, and the menu can take in a whole Sussex roast pig, barbecues, champagne afternoon tea or a traditional three or four course wedding breakfast, all built around your tastes as a bespoke service. When the evening winds down there is on-site accommodation for close family and friends, which is welcome even for local couples whose guests would rather stay over than drive home. Ask us about rooms when you enquire and we will explain what suits your numbers and your date.

A Team That Knows The Area

Planning feels easier with people who know the estate and the surrounding area well. Being an LGBTQ+ wedding venue in East Sussex, we are simple to reach whenever you want to walk the grounds again or talk something through in person. Our wedding team put together a detailed timeline covering the run-up and the day itself, and they are on the end of the phone for a question or a quick chat in between, so nothing about the planning needs to feel daunting.

Couples From Across East Sussex And The Wider Region

Most of our East Sussex couples are close by, but plenty travel a little further. We welcome same-sex couples planning weddings across Sussex, those searching near Brighton, in Eastbourne, Tunbridge Wells and Hastings, and couples south of London looking for countryside close to the capital. If your area is not listed, get in touch and we will talk you through the journey.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many guests can we invite to the ceremony?

The barns are licensed for ceremonies of up to 150 guests.

Whereabouts in East Sussex are you?

Arrange A Visit

If an LGBTQ+ wedding venue in East Sussex sounds like the start of your day, the best next step is to come and see it for yourself. A visit gives you the chance to walk through both barns, see the lakes, gardens and courtyards, and picture where your ceremony, photographs and celebration could sit across the day. It is also the easiest way to talk through the things that matter most: your likely guest numbers, the dates you have in mind, catering ideas and rooms for close family and friends.

There is no pressure and no obligation. Get in touch with our team or book your private viewing online and we will arrange a time that suits you, answer any questions while you are deciding, and send over our venue brochure so you can share everything with the people helping you plan.
