A Sussex Barn Venue With Real History
The ceremony itself takes place in the Tudor Barn, a 500-year-old oak-framed barn that has been carefully restored. The beams are original, the character is intact, and the atmosphere is hard to describe until you walk inside. We hold civil ceremonies and partnerships here for up to 120 guests, and if you would rather marry in a local church first, we are a short drive from the church of St Peter and St Paul in Hellingly.
After the ceremony, guests head out to the patio for welcome drinks, weather permitting. When it is time to sit down, everyone moves across to The Granary, our floor-to-ceiling glazed barn with antique cartwheel chandeliers and seating for up to 120. Later in the evening, you wander back to the Tudor Barn for the music, the dancing and the bit of the night that always runs later than planned.

The food matters, and we take it seriously. Our chefs build a bespoke menu with you based on the season, your budget and what you actually want to eat. We use local Sussex suppliers wherever we can, which means short supply chains, better ingredients and menus that genuinely reflect the county you are getting married in. Tastings are part of the process so you know exactly what is coming out of the kitchen on the day.
Service is where a lot of venues quietly let themselves down. Ours does not. The front-of-house team are warm, professional and paid attention to the small things, which is what your guests will remember.
Trusted Suppliers When You Need Them
Some couples turn up with every supplier already booked. Others have no idea where to start. Both are fine. We keep a list of photographers, florists, cake makers, hair and makeup artists, bands, DJs, toastmasters and stylists we have worked with for years and trust to turn up and do a proper job. You are never obliged to use them, but the list is there if you want a shortcut.
Accommodation for You and Your Guests

You can book the night before for the prep, the night of the wedding, and extend it into a longer stay if you want to make a weekend of it. Blackstock Country Estate sits in East Sussex between Eastbourne, Hastings, Brighton and Tunbridge Wells, and just south of London, which puts us within reasonable reach of most of Sussex. Couples from Lewes, Uckfield, Heathfield, Bexhill, Seaford and the surrounding villages regularly choose us because they want a rural wedding without asking their guests to drive hours to get there. We have plenty of parking on site, and the accommodation solves the taxi problem entirely.
