Top Accessories For A Groom

Some people may be under the illusion that the wedding day is an opportunity for the bride to “Glam-out” and the groom to have a more subdued look and let his bride enjoy the spotlight. For some men, this is the perfect situation. However, some want to express themselves and feel that much more dapper on their big day.

Ties & Pocket Squares

Ties are a way for some colour to be added to a typically more traditional look of a suit. There are ways to make flashier ties not seem ‘out of place’ on your wedding day. One way is matching decoration accents with the colour of your tie, this is often seen with the flowers or ribbons used on centrepieces. It gives a really sophisticated look to the man, and looks great in photos! There are not many occasions to wear a cravat so if you have an urge to do this, then now will be the time!

Pocket squares are handkerchiefs folded in a particular way to give off a certain aesthetic or look. They are common to be seen in a variety of colours and patterns, this is where you can be a little bit creative. Typically, they are matched with the tie; the pair gives off a sophisticated and stylish appearance. We recommend that you go for a slightly lighter or darker and not an exact match for your tie.

There are many ways to fold this type of wedding accessory. Our favourite here is the triangle. It’s simple, traditional and stylish – perfection!

Boutonnieres

This wedding accessory is a floral decoration worn on the left breast. This is because it always needs to be over your heart, or at least that side. In the lapel of your jacket, there should be a small hole, which is where you should attach your boutonniere.

As long as it’s above your pocket on your suit then you’re golden. Some men find it more comfortable to wear it higher and some prefer lower; you do what makes you feel best!

An excellent touch is when the flowers seen in the boutonnieres match with the bride’s bouquet and the decoration of the venue. It brings everything together and looks extremely classy.

Cufflinks

Cufflinks are an excellent way to add some class to your wedding suit without it being too glaringly apparent that you’re trying. There are many different styles of cufflinks out there. If you speak to particular jewellers they may even add an engraving of the date or your bride’s initials to make them feel special whenever you wear them.

Time Pieces

Many men choose to wear a watch on a regular basis. However, purchasing a watch specifically for your wedding day again makes it more significant and holds so much more meaning. Here at Blackstock Country Estate, we’ve seen one groom buy pocket watches for himself and his best man to celebrate the occasion. It is the small details that are most important on your wedding day, even if they’re not noticed by everyone.

Your Suit

Whatever you wear on the day, make sure you really love it! Whether it is top hat and tails, a smart suit, more casual attire or something really funky and a bit different, ensure it fits well and is comfortable on the big day.

Here is where you can really show your personality and be proud to look this fantastic…

Something Really Extra Special…

Have a think about something that could be really special to you and your partner. Maybe create or arrange something the bride won’t know about before the day…

At the end of the day, you want your wedding to be memorable for all the right reasons and totally personal to you both. If you have something specific that you want to put on display, to wear, organise, or just have fun with, then go for it!
