Anita & Stephen’s Wedding at Blackstock Estate

Mr & Mrs Hubbard had been dreaming up their wedding day for years. After a tricky few years of Coronavirus, they decided enough was enough and it was time. They opted for a beautiful July wedding in the picturesque Sussex countryside. Their idyllic day was composed of rolling hills, lush greenery and the sweet peace of nature.

Here is how Anita & Stephen’s wedding at Blackstock Estate went:

Anita’s Bridal Suite

On the morning of her wedding day, Anita arrived at Blackstock bright and early to prepare herself for the wonderful day ahead. With the assistance from her Bridesmaids, everything went smoothly and she was ready for her big day ahead.

All our brides find our bridal suite such a special treat. It allows them to get ready on-site and not have to worry about transporting their belongings from venue to venue. This was particularly helpful in Anita’s situation as the couple had arranged for their ceremony to be held at the nearby church in Hellingly. Additionally, it always starts the day with some excitement and helps create unmatched energy amongst the bridal party.

Their Ceremony

As we mentioned, the couple had arranged for their ceremony to be held at the nearby church in Hellingly. The church looked stunning and added a unique charm to their day. Stephen stood at the altar, looking handsome in his suit, as he waited for his bride to make the walk down the aisle. Anita looked absolutely gorgeous in her white wedding dress, with her hair flowing over her shoulders. The ceremony was incredibly emotional. As the couple exchanged their heartfelt vows many a tear was shed by friends and family.

After the ceremony had concluded the couple arranged for some photographs to be taken with photographer, and friend of Blackstock, Sarah Cole from Cole-Young Photography.

Post Ceremony

After the ceremony, the newlyweds ventured back to the venue and made their way to the courtyard for some more photographs. In the wonderful June sunshine, the guests of the couple enjoyed some drinks and canapes prepared by our catering team. A wide range of moments were captured in photographs, that we’re sure the couple are going to reminisce over for many years. Normally, by this time of day, many of the guests start to get restless and hungry, particularly, the smaller ones…

The Menu

The Granary Barn was swiftly filled in preparation for the wedding breakfast. The barn was beautifully decorated. The couple had a wonderful white and pink theme running throughout their day so it was only right this was continued in the decor. An array of beautiful bouquets were arranged and placed on each table. This paired with the tasteful choice of lighting and some grand white ceiling drapes, creating a wonderful dining atmosphere. The food, prepared by our in-house catering team was delicious and the guests enjoyed a sumptuous meal consisting of the following:

CHORIZO SCOTCH EGG

with crispy pancetta, heritage tomato salsa and roasted pepper dressing

FEATHERBLADE OF BEEF

in a red wine jus, served with roasted red onion and truffle mash

BAKED CHEESECAKE

with fresh raspberries and white chocolate sauce

The couple arranged to conclude the wedding breakfast by enjoying four speeches performed by the father of the bride, groom, best man, and maid of honour.

Evening Celebrations

As the sun began to set, the party moved to the Tudor barn for the evening reception. The barn was beautifully decorated with twinkling fairy lights and elegant floral arrangements. This really helped to set the scene for a truly magical evening of celebration. The guests crowded around as the happy couple cut their cake and began their journey through life together. This was followed by their first dance as a married duo to live band Smoking Jackets.

Knowing their guests, the couple had arranged for an array of evening buffet food of burgers and mini fish and chips in cones. These went down an absolute treat and everyone enjoyed the delicious food. Outside, in the courtyard, an ice cream cart was stationed, making the most of the July warmth. The atmosphere at this wedding was second to none. It looked as though everyone was having a fabulous time, the sounds of laughter and chatter could be heard from all around.

As the night drew to a close, guests began to make their way to their accommodation, all of which had been booked out for the occasion. The happy couple made the short walk to their own private sanctuary for the night – the charming Goat Shed, which offers our couples an intimate and cosy conclusion to their day. The cabin’s rustic yet charming feel perfectly captured the spirit of their day.
