Wedding Preparation Tips for the Groom

We understand that getting married is one of the most stressful yet wonderful things that we humans tend to do in our lifetime. It may seem like the list of responsibilities and what you have to do before the ceremony is endless. So we’ve compiled a list of wedding preparation tips that all grooms should try and stick to, in order for there to be smooth sailing on the big day.

Make a to-do list

We know it might sound completely pointless but believe us when we say that there are some things you just cannot forget unless you want to be in the dog house for the rest of eternity. So sit down with your best man or someone who has been married (not too many times) and write a list of important stuff that you must do before your wedding day.

Think of everything – even down to the smallest details. It will certainly earn you some brownie points – plus it can feel quite nice to tick stuff off a list once you have done it!

Make sure the Groom is groomed

You wouldn’t believe how many men forget to do the basics on their wedding day. Remember all the eyes in the venue are going to be on you and your partner-to-be so you have to be looking sharp. I would recommend taking a trip to the barber to ensure that all your grooming needs have been met. Plus it is a lovely treat to sit back, relax and have an expert groom you!

Get that speech down to a tee

There’s nothing more nerve-racking for some of us than public speaking, let alone when the stakes to make a memorable speech are so high. One thing that can really help is if you have your whole speech memorised. This will make it so all the words just roll off the tongue so no thinking whilst talking is needed on your part. If you can’t get it down then some notes, pointers or bullet points on a small piece of paper should help jog your memory!

Select your best man with care

We all have that one mate who is a bit of an airhead. Or that one who enjoys his alcohol that bit too much and instantly becomes a liability. These are not the guys to choose to be your best man or give any sort of control to on the big day. As much as you love them – think carefully. It’s so important to have people around you who you can rely on, especially on a day as stressful as your wedding day!

Enjoy it!

Finally, the best tip we can give you is to enjoy your day. You’re marrying the person who you love and that’s what matters! Try not to stress if something isn’t perfect and remember, in the grand scheme of things, it’s not that big of a deal. Don’t forget, it’s the funny things that happen on your wedding day that you are most likely to remember!

We’ve known of so many people who worry too much on their big day and end up not having a blast, as they should. This is last on the list but is likely the most important for grooms and brides alike.
